Tonsil Stones..Can You Get Rid of Them In a Safe Way?

However, the kidneys aren’t the only area. The tonsils are one more area where rough, foul smelling, and quite often, hurtful stones can develop.Tonsil stones are more common than most people think. What are tonsil stones? A tonsil stone (also called a tonsillolith, tonsillar debris, or calculus of the tonsil) is a piece, or more generally a cluster, of calcareous matter that develops in the back of the mouth in the crevices (or tonsillar crypts) of the tonsils or on the roof of the mouth. Protruding tonsil stones give you the feeling of a foreign object lodged in the back of the throat. They may be an especially uncomfortable nuisance but usually are not harmful. Tonsils are loaded with crevices where germs and many other materials, including dead cells and mucous, can become stuck. When this occurs, the debris can become concentrated in white-colored formation s that develop in the pockets. Tonsil Stones are created when this confined debris combines and hardens, or calcifies. This tends to occur most often in people who suffer from chronic puffiness in their tonsils or repeated bouts of tonsillitis. These calculi are constructed of calcium salts such as hydroxyapatite or calcium carbonate apatite, oxalates and other magnesium salts or containing ammonium radicals. They often appear as white or yellowish in color, irregularly shaped and foul smelling and can cause extreme halitosis. Most sufferers who go to their doctor are concerned with the symptom of bad breath that comes along with them.
