There’s No Need To Try And Cope With Blurred Eyesight. Go To Your Optician Today And Make Sure That You Request The Best Treatment For You

Many people experience sight defects and there are several ways of doing something about them, but you must find out from a qualified optician as to what the best solution is for you.

The most common diagnosed problems, certainly in the first half of your life, are probably going to be short-sightedness (myopia) or long-sightedness (hyperopia). As the English name would suggest, short-sightedness means that you can see clearly objects which are near to you, but have trouble focusing on objects in the distance. Long-sightedness obviously means precisely the opposite.

In both of these complaints, the cause lies with the cornea (the front of the eye) which is not precisely the correct shape to allow perfect vision. In myopia the cornea is slightly too steep, in hyperopia the opposite applies. If the problem is mild, then the lack of good vision can be a minor annoyance, but if it is serious it can be severely restrictive for the patient.

For many years, the best solution has been corrective glasses which compensate for the visual shortcomings of the eyes. But in recent times, Laser eye surgery has also become a popular choice of treatment, though it is also a more expensive one.

Laser eye treatment is a tried and trusted remedy for the problem. It is quick and simple for an eye specialist to carry out, causes very little pain and has a swift recovery time. Subject to the surgeon’s agreement, Laser eye surgery can be completed on both eyes at the same appointment, although some people prefer to have them operated on individually.

During surgery, a laser is used to reshape the cornea, making it slightly flatter if the diagnosis is myopia and slightly more steep if long-sightedness is the issue. Either way, the nature of Laser eye treatment is basically to vaporise cells to change the shape of the cornea, so no actual surgical instruments are required to physically make contact with the eye. This is the main reason why recovery times are short for treatment carried out like this.

Of course, Laser eye treatment is not the ideal solution for all those with eye complaints. There could be other medical reasons why it is not the correct treatment for all sufferers. And it should be borne in mind that it won’t necessarily restore perfect vision, but will improve eyesight to the extent that reliance on glasses can be much decreased in the future.
