Take Herbal Remedies to Get rid of Headaches Naturally
Headaches are one of the most common ailments people face on a daily basis. There can be many causes ranging from stress to restricted blood flow to serious medical conditions. The good news is that most headaches are simply tension headaches and they are not serious. Herbal remedies can be very effective at curing these.
You can find herbal headache remedies from virtually every philosophy of medicine including Chinese herbal medicine, Ayurveda medicine (the traditional medicine in India), and homeopathic and herbal medicine.
A common herb used in Chinese medicine is ginger and it is one of the recommended treatments for headaches. You can eat a small piece of fresh ginger or drink a ginger tea. Ginger is now available at many health food stores and even in a lot of normal grocery stores.
If you want to try Ayurveda herbal remedies for headaches, there are two commonly used treatments. One is to warm some mustard oil and put it on a cloth. The cloth is put over your forehead as a compress to alleviate pain. The second method is to put some coriander seeds in boiling water. When this mixture steams, you enhale the steam. Enhaling the steam can be helpful getting rid of sinus headache pain.
A popular homeopathic herbal remedy for headaches is warm tea made from rose hip, chamomile, or peppermint. Tension headaches can often be relaxed away with a nice cup of tea. You may also try valerian root which can be taken in capsules or as a tea. This one can make you drowsy though so be careful the first time you take it.
Aromatherapy offers several remedies for getting rid of headaches which can be very pleasant to use. The first is to use lavender oil. You can put a couple drops of it under your nose or rub the oil into your temples (if somebody else can rub it in for you it is even more relaxing). The relaxing effect of lavender can relax away your tension headache. Another aromatic remedy is to take a hot bath using relaxing scents like lavender or chamomile. Both of these remedies are great to add to your daily relaxation ritual even if you don’t have any headache pain.
