Sinusitis Cause, Symptoms And Cure
If you always get an uncomfortable feeling around your nose and face then you’re probably experiencing some sinus infection. Sometimes people are not able to treat the condition right away because they confuse sinusitis with colds or flu. But sinusitis is very different.
Sinusitis is the swelling of the sinuses or the air sac behind the nasal cavity. It can be found right under the eyes. This inflammation may be due to allergies, or some viral infection.
Sinus Infection Symptoms can be classified based on its duration and the location of the infection. Periods can either be acute, sub-acute or recurring.
Acute sinusitis occurs in less than four weeks. It is commonly caused by a viral, fungal or bacterial infection. It is premeditated by a previous infection of the upper respiratory tract. Meanwhile, sub-acute sinusitis has a period of 1-2 months.
It becomes chronic when the sinus infection occurs for over two months. Chronic sinusitis has a lot of causes. It may result as a complication of a disease or through polyp growth and so on.
you may also classify sinusitis depending on where the infection is located. It may bemaxillary, frontal ethmoid or sphenoid.Maxillary sinusitis causes facial pain. It may be frontal if you are experiencing headache. Eye pain and headache characterizes ethmoid sinusitis and pain around the eyes and the forehead are symptoms of sphenoid sinusitis.
A sinusitis infection has more symptoms compared to colds and flu. It’s symptoms are nasal congestion, headache, coughing, and nausea. Other symptoms include post-nasal drip and throat irritation.
There are several treatments available for sinusitis. You may go for home remedies or have a physician prescribe some medication. One usual home remedy is eucalyptus. This is done by inhaling eucalyptus vapor. The aroma may relieve congestion but it cannot cure sinusitis.
Doctors may also recommend a lot of sinusitis treatments for sinus infection. One of which is nasal spray. It may contain sea salt, minerals or some medicines. If the inflamed sinus is caused by bacteria you will be made to take antibiotics. Surgery is advised for more severe sinus problems.
