Make Your Lyme Disease Symptoms More Bearable

It is easier to treat Lyme disease when it is caught in its early stages. Finding the tick bite quickly will aid in treating the disease with minimal issues. If, however, like some people you are asymptomatic and don’t know that you have the disease until it is in its later stages, getting proper treatment and overcoming the disease can be more difficult. If you do contract this disease, here are some of the treatment options available to you.

Amoxicillin, or another similar antibiotic, is the first type of treatment used for Lyme disease. The earlier the disease is caught the more effective this form of treatment is. In most cases, the standard ten day prescription of antibiotics gets rid of the disease. If the disease was past the first stage, however, you may need a three week treatment of antibiotics. If you didn’t discover you had Lyme disease before it was in it’s later stages, unfortunately, the oral medications won’t be much help. Doctors generally try to treat with antibiotics and only use more intense methods if necessary.

If you do some research you will find quite a few clinical trials available now too.

Discuss these trials with your physician before you sign up for one. If you are selected for the program you could have your very expensive treatment medications completely free. Not every trial works though! Still, the trials may give you better options than you will find through traditional western medicine.

Of course you might still require the care of a doctor becasue of the vaccine.

The vaccine hasn’t been given out for years because it was proven to be ineffective in keeping the disease away for long periods of time. This vaccine was still around in 2002 although the effects have worn off long before now and you are not protected. Keep an eye out for symptoms and if you’ve been bitten recently, see your doctor.

You will have different options for treatment depending on the stage of the disease when discovered. If you catch it early enough the disease is pretty easy to treat and to cure. Once it reaches the later stages or crosses into the brain, it becomes much harder to treat. Being aware of what is going on in your body is very important. If you think you are experiencing the symptoms of this disease, contact your doctor immediately. Successful treatment is determined in large part by how quickly this disease is diagnosed.
