How Soon Can You Take an Accurate Pregnancy Test?

Women who think they may be pregnant are usually in a rush to get a definitive diagnosis. They may be too excited to wait. Women also may be in a rush to find out because they weren’t expecting the child and may have trouble caring for it. These women can’t wait for their results either. Many women take the test too soon because they’re so anxious to find out. A false negative result can be had if you take it too early.

In the old days, a woman had to be a couple of months pregnant before she could go to her doctor and have a test done. She would have to wait a few days before the results of the test came back. Not so any more. If you use a modern test, you can find out if you’re pregnant approximately two weeks after conception. These tests work by looking for the presence of certain hormones in the woman’s urine. The only thing that needs to happen before hCG will begin to show up is for the embryo to implant itself within the womb, which usually takes about 2 weeks. These tests can detected H-hCG a little earlier. Testing for H-hCG is the most reliable way, but most tests aren’t designed to detect it accurately enough.

You’ve probably heard the claims that pregnancy tests make in TV ads that they are 99% accurate. That can be a bit misleading, because they can only be accurate if the woman waits until at least the 2nd day after her period was supposed to start. Also, there were various studies conducted that determined the tests were only accurate about 48% to 89% of the time. These tests can possibly deliver wrong results. You should wait until you’ve missed a full mensutrual cycle before you try to take the test. If you take it sooner, you risk getting a false negative.

Although finding out you’re pregnant can be difficult, you’ll save some heartache by taking a test You can imagine how you’d feel if you tested negative when you were so anxious to be pregnant. Why go through all those days of sadness when it’s possible that you were really pregnant the entire time? And why would you want to go out and celebrate a negative pregnancy test when it’s too early to really know for sure? These tests are very convenient as long as they’re used at the proper time.
