Blood Glucose In A Diabetic Diet

For all of us to understand Diabetes, it would be a good idea to understand first how glucose is being processes in the body and what is its relationship with the diabetes.

Glucose is a form of sugar that is said to be the source of the energy our body needs. It comes from the food that you eat and from the liver. Throughout the digestion process, sugar is absorbed in the bloodstream with the assistance from the insulin. Insulin however is a hormone that comes from the pancreas, a gland that is found just behind the stomach.

When you eat anything, the pancreas automatically secretes insulin into the bloodstream. The insulin here acts more like a key, wherein it unlock microscopic doors allowing the sugar to enter the cell. Another function of the insulin is to lower the amount of sugar. When the level of sugar drops within your body, the secretion of the insulin also drops.

The liver acts because the storage area of the glucose. It is also the manufacturing center. If you haven’t eaten for a period of time, the liver releases the glucose that was stores in order to keep the glucose level within your body still within normal range.

One of the major factors that cause diabetes is diet. Our body needs fuel thus we have to eat but there must be limitations. Overeating of fats, proteins and carbohydrates are bad for the body. Generally a balanced weight loss program is important in order produce the power that we need and for our body to perform its vital functions.

Too much food, especially those unnecessary impedes the pancreas from doing its job of secreting insulin. Therefore if there is an insufficient secretion of insulin, the level of sugar rises resulting to diabetes mellitus or simply diabetes. Normally people tend to eat refined carbohydrates in the form of cakes, ice creams, biscuits, bread, pudding, and other sweet foods which boosts the risk of high blood glucose level bringing on diabetes. You can still enjoy eating foods rich in carbohydrates but are advised to limit the intake because it could elevate the glucose to some critical level.

Children are not exempted from developing diabetes. Actually anyone from nine years above might have diabetes. It should be the responsibility of the parent to teach their children when it comes to dietary habits. If you will allow them, they will eat anything at anytime they want not knowing whether it is good or otherwise in the body.

Overeating can lead to obesity that is another factor causing diabetes. Children should not be given candies, jams, cakes, chocolates and other sweets which are loaded with carbohydrates at the same time foods that are definitely not great for the teeth. Although it is very hard to follow, children should be out on a healthy diet which is essential for their growth and development.
